MTI Systems, Inc. (West Springfield, MA) announced the license of their 1,600th Costimator® cost estimating and quoting software system . . . another milestone moment for the software development company.
Costimator, first developed in 1982, was originally designed to help manufacturing engineers with their process planning requirements, helping process planners who were struggling to push more parts, faster and more efficiently, through their production department. Founder Thomas Charkiewicz soon had the vision to expand the software – adding cost estimating and quoting functionality to the already popular software program. It now reduces estimating time while not compromising accuracy or consistency for manufacturers who do machining, fabrication, and mechanical assembly.
The cost estimating software system calculates cycle times and the cost of manufacturing a part or assembly based on the capabilities of the suppliers’ equipment and their shop rates. Costimator helps estimators meet the needs of new technology suppliers and OEMs in industries such as aerospace, agriculture, defense, electronics, medical, heavy truck, energy, transportation, and construction manufacturers.
“In the early 1980s, I found process planning issues that could be solved through the use of software,” notes Charkiewicz, now the president of MTI Systems. “Not long after, our company created even more value by creating software that simultaneously helped cost estimators accurately estimate the time and cost to manufacture parts and assemblies. Continuing to develop better software, by adding new features and more manufacturing data to remain current with today’s manufacturing requirements, helps our cost estimating software product remain state-of-the art,” concludes Charkiewicz. “We are proud to acquire our 1,600th customer.”
MTI Systems supports both manufacturing suppliers, including job shops, OEMs, contract manufacturers, precision machining and fabrication shops, and has evolved into one of the industry’s preeminent cost estimating software development companies for manufacturers worldwide as it continues to add more software features and manufacturing data that help their customers remain up-to-date with the latest technological advancements in manufacturing.
