JMT USA (Salt Lake City, UT), a leading provider of machine tools to the metal fabrication industry, is expanding its laser product line in response to growing demand for fiber lasers and recently appointed two new staff members to technical positions to support its laser products.

Johntanna (JT) Messer joined the company as a laser sales engineer. In his new role, Messer will be responsible for evaluating customer applications and providing accurate information about laser cutting parameters. He will conduct free time studies and cost comparisons for companies to demonstrate the cut quality and precision of fiber lasers. Any company can request a free time study; they simple need to provide sample parts, part drawings and specification to JMT.

Messer received his degree in Electronics Engineering from ITT and has extensive experience working with lasers. Before joining the company he worked for Amada America as a laser service engineer maintaining over 120 laser machines for customers in Utah and Idaho.

“I’m very impressed with the design and engineering of our lasers,” says Messer. “I’m most impressed with the user friendliness of the control operations and programming as well as the simplicity of troubleshooting and maintenance of the machine. These fiber lasers have many cost-saving advantages over CO2 lasers. I’m excited to be a part of this growing company.”

The company also promoted one of its service technicians to the position of laser product specialist. Chase Walker, who has been with JMT since 2014, will now be responsible for conducting customer demonstrations and trainings on the various lasers. In addition to supporting the laser product line, Walker will also cover waterjet and plasma cutting products.

“We are fortunate to have these two talented and experienced people join our laser product line,” says JMT president Jared Peterson. Messer and Walker recently returned from a two weeks trip to the laser production facility in Bursa, Turkey, where they learned about the latest laser technology advancements.

JMT is a division of Jorgenson Industrial Companies, a family owned and operated company that has been in business providing “strong customer service” since 1967. The company serves markets in machine tools, material handling, lockers and shelving. It has facilities in Salt Lake City and Atlanta, GA.
