The Illinois Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense (DoD) office, has announced that Anthony Imbrogno (the vice president of customer service and support), Lou Clifford (the vice president of logistics), and William Isaac (the vice president of sales and marketing), all representing Mitsubishi EDM/Laser, signed a Statement of Support for the Guard and Reserve this month at their MC Machinery Systems, Inc. corporate office located in Wood Dale, IL.

The Statement of Support confirms that Mitsubishi EDM/Laser joins other employers in
pledging:

  • To fully recognize, honor and enforce the Uniformed Services Employment and ReEmployment Rights Act (USERRA).
  • Managers and supervisors will have the tools they need to effectively manage employees who serve in the Guard and Reserve.
  • To appreciate the values, leadership and unique skills service members bring to the workforce and will encourage opportunities to hire Guardsmen, Reservists and Veterans.
  • To recognize and support our country’s service members and their families in peace, in crises and in war.

“Today, supportive employers are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units,” said Frank Amaro, the ESGR Illinois representative. “I am asking all Illinois employers to take a look at their current human resources policies to incorporate policies supportive of Guard and Reserve employees. Many Illinois employers provide support above and beyond what is required by law by offering pay differential to offset the loss of wages, and extension of health care benefits which complement coverage provided by the military when their employees are mobilized.”

When asked about the criteria, Amaro noted, “By meeting the Statement of Support criteria, Mitsubishi EDM/Laser pledges to stand proudly with its Guard and Reserve employees, who continue to answer their nation’s call to defend our way of life. Their personal sacrifices are essential to the strength of our nation.”

“It’s truly our honor to sign a statement of support for the men and women that continue to insure the freedoms that we enjoy daily, all of us here are very proud to a part of this historic day at our company, look forward in working with our guardsmen, reservists and veterans,” stated Imbrogno.

“We join a cadre of Fortune 500 companies, state and federal agencies and thousands of America’s employers in demonstrating support for our armed forces,” added Amaro. “By signing the Statement of Support, Imbrogno, Clifford and Isaac are all sending a clear message to their employees that, while they are serving their country, they do not have to worry about their civilian jobs.”

ESGR seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States. ESGR facilitates and promotes a cooperative culture of employer support for National Guard and Reserve service by developing and advocating mutually beneficial initiatives, recognizing outstanding employer support, increasing awareness of applicable laws and policies, resolving potential conflicts between employers and their service members, and acting as the employers’ principal advocate within DoD.

After the signing of the Statements of Support, Mitsubishi EDM/Laser staff was totally surprised when ESGR announced that David Kloos of Mitsubishi EDM/Laser was honored with a Patriot Award in recognition of extraordinary support of his employee serving in the Guard and Reserve.

“The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees who like the citizen warriors before them have answered their nation’s call to serve,” explained Amaro. “Kloos was nominated for being highly supportive of the Reserve Service by his Reserve Component employee, Staff Sargent Michael Koch, (Army 814th Military Police Company). Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units.”
