Continuing to expand their sales and support resources, CAD/CAM developer Vero Software (Cheltenham, England) has added a new applications engineer to their growing Alphacam team.

Criss Reid, an experienced CNC programmer and applications engineer who hails from the town of Bradford, England, joined the Alphacam team in their United States offices earlier this month. Reid spent seven years working as a CNC programmer for stone-working machine tools before being hired as an applications engineer for CMS Industries, UK Division, a designer and manufacturer of machining centers. Over the course of about 14 years with CMS, he filled both applications and sales roles, and relocated to the U.S.

“I was employed as an applications engineer for stone and glass installing and the training of all glass and stone customers, in the UK and all of Europe,” says Reid of his previous work experience. “I trained on many different machines and machine controls. I had some of the biggest and most complex machines at my disposal.” He was introduced to Alphacam, a solution for cutting wood, stone, and metal, during his tenure at CMS, and began using it for all of his 5-axis stone applications.

The company also welcomes Nick Spurrett, an experienced and valued member of the team, to the role of regional director for the Americas. In his new role, Spurrett oversees all sales and support operations for CAD/CAM solutions in the Americas.

Announcing the appointment, Vero Software chief executive officer Steve Sivitter commented, “Nick is in his 16th year with us, having started as a European sales manager for our Edgecam brand. Since then, he’s held increasingly senior positions in the company. Since 2011, he has been the general manager for Alphacam, where he successfully built upon all aspects of business, resulting in significant sales growth. We are confident that his knowledge and energy will further accelerate our growth in these important markets for us.”

Spurrett is already applying his considerable expertise to a market ripe for growth, and one of his objectives is to inform manufacturers in the Americas that the company is adept at serving diverse and continuously evolving needs.

Spurrett commented on his new position, “I am delighted to be joining an already very successful team. With the opportunity that the Americas offer our software, I am looking forward to making sure that, when a prospect thinks of CAD/CAM, they think of us. With our breadth of CAD/CAM solutions, we are able to offer manufacturers the correct solution for their exact needs.”
