Haas Automation, Inc. (Oxnard, CA) is proud to announce that it is the official machine tool supplier of the Haas F1 Team and will be along for the ride when the team takes to the track in 2016. The team will make its debut in the FIA Formula One World Championship in 2016, becoming the first American-led Formula One team in 30 years. Many of the precision parts and assemblies that go into building the team’s Formula One car, as well as into the related equipment needed to run the global 21-race schedule, are already being made on Haas CNC machines.

At the team’s U.S. headquarters in Kannapolis, NC, the machine shop is constantly buzzing with complex high-precision parts, large and small, being made by American machinists using Haas CNC machines. The team currently has 17 Haas machine tools in its 7,000 sq ft shop, including three UMC-750SS 5-axis universal machining centers, four 5-axis VF-5TR and VF-6TR trunnion VMCs, a 50 taper VF-11 VMC, four ST-series Y-axis turning centers, and a 5-axis GR-712-5AX gantry router. An additional UMC-750SS and four other machines will also be installed at the team’s European headquarters in Banbury, UK.

These machine tools are currently being used to machine parts for the 60 percent scale wind tunnel models, as well as components for the team’s garage equipment. As the team’s cars and race program reach full development, these machine tools will play an even greater role. As the official machine tool supplier of the F1 Team, Haas Automation is able to showcase its equipment to a worldwide audience and build important business-to-business relationships inside the Formula One paddock.

“It automatically conveys our place among the pinnacle of motorsports,” said Gene Haas, the president and founder of Haas Automation, the largest CNC machine tool builder in North America. “When you hear ‘F1’ you know exactly what it is, a global racing series that showcases the latest technology, and attracts the best talent in engineering and design. We have an excellent reputation in the United States and I want to grow that reputation worldwide. Connecting us with F1, in name and in practice when this team debuts in 2016, is the best way to grow our business worldwide and elevate us to a premium global brand.”

The Haas F1 Team will debut in the FIA Formula One World Championship in 2016, where it will become the first American-led Formula One team since 1986. Founded by industrialist Gene Haas, this team is based in the United States on the same Kannapolis campus as his championship-winning NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team, Stewart-Haas Racing. He is also the chairman of the Haas F1 Team.
