Innovative Welding Fume and Dust Ventilation

ESTA Extraction introduces their new FILTOWER line that not only extracts welding fumes, but also fine dust and oil mist.

Posted: October 28, 2015

Ideal for use in metal fabrication when processing large parts that involve constant changes in work location or areas where direct extraction is not feasible, the FILTOWER series from ESTA Extraction performs spatial ventilation of welding fumes, dust and oil mist with almost 100 percent filtration efficiency to improve room air quality for those working in the areas.

In Booth C-1515, ESTA Extraction USA L.P. (Charlotte, NC) is introducing their new FILTOWER line to the U.S. market. The German manufacturer of extraction technology is presenting a system that is not only suitable for extracting welding fumes, but also fine dust and oil mist. This system makes an important contribution to protecting employees effectively from harmful particles. Energy savings up to 70 percent can be achieved by returning cooled or heated air into the work area.

The filter towers are specially designed for the use in the metal industry and can be used anywhere where direct extraction is not feasible, such as when processing large work pieces that involve constant changes in work location. With almost 100 percent filtration efficiency, the FILTOWER series helps significantly to improve room air quality for those working in manufacturing areas. Thanks to the layer ventilation principle that allows recirculation of cooled or heated air into the production hall, the filter towers can save up to 70 percent in energy costs per year. Moreover, the systems help ensure a clean work environment, less waste and longer machine operating times, for better productivity overall. They are available with three output levels, with extraction volumes of 5,800 cfm, 8,800 cfm and 11,800 cfm.

All models are equipped with high-efficiency electric motors. In the standard version, the systems have two separately switchable motors that allow the operator to regulate extraction performance as needed. Additionally, all systems can be delivered with frequency converters for optional motor activation. The systems come without a pipe system, and their plug and play principle makes them ready to operate in no time and allows a flexible relocation. To minimize odors and contaminants at the same time, the filter towers can be equipped with optional active carbon inserts for effective filtration of odors and pollutants from the air.

Other energy-efficient technologies on display include the newly designed DUSTOMAT 4 mobile dust extractor series. Usable for direct extraction at processing machines, for single or multiple workstations, metal dust and shavings are collected and filtered, exceeding OSHA standards. Attaching either extraction hoods, extraction arms or smaller pipe systems add even more flexibility to a shop’s applications. The extractors come with user-friendly control panel. Thanks to the devices’ small dimensions, high extraction and filter performance and low operating noise, the pre-wired and fully assembled DUSTOMAT 4 extractors can be set up directly in the work area.

ESTA is a leading company in extraction technology. For over 40 years, the family-owned German firm in has developed and manufactured a broad range of innovative products and custom solutions for industry and the trades, across the widest range of sectors and applications. Their product line includes mobile and stationary dust extractors, industrial vacuum cleaners, welding fume filters, oil mist separators, extraction fans, extraction arms, central extraction systems and a comprehensive range of accessories. Through its subsidiary in Charlotte, the company also sells their broad range of devices in the U.S. market. The company also offers a comprehensive range of services and supports its customers worldwide as a reliable partner for clean air at the workplace.
