Vollmer Adds New Personnel

Derrick Bailey, Matthew LaRose and Tatjana Gruber have joined application and sales support.

Posted: November 24, 2015

To keep in line with growing demand for their new range of TCT grinding machines, industry-leading Tool and Cutter grinder and ground-breaking new software for the QXD 250 PCD machine, Vollmer of America Corporation (Carnegie, PA) has invested in additional staff to underpin their commitment to customers, ranging from application and service engineers through to sales and marketing support. These posts have been created to streamline office activities and further enhance response time for customers.

The company welcomes several new members to its staff:

Derrick Bailey joined the team as an application engineer on October 19 with the responsibility of supporting the new VGrind tool and cutter grinding machine, an exciting innovation that is registering impressive sales growth. Bailey has been brought in to add his wealth of experience in training staff and programming and operating grinding centers that manufacture cutting tools. He will also be fully trained in company methodology with regards to the PCD tooling business. His existing expertise and additional training will enable him to provide complete coverage on the application aspects of rotary tooling. Originally from Burleson, TX, he is now based at the office in Carnegie to support and train customers, as well as in-house tooling trials and demonstrations.

Matthew LaRose has been appointed as a service engineer. He comes with a good mechanical background and a training background of doing things by the book. He served as a petty officer (Second Class) with the U.S. Navy for eight years and has a degree in electrical engineering and a resume packed with operation, repair, diagnostic and testing experience, LaRose will be supporting customers around the U.S. He has already been to Germany for TCT machine training and is scheduled for training on the new V Grind machine to undertake servicing and installs. He is from Belle Vernon, PA, and will be working out of the Carnegie office.

Tatjana Gruber has joined the company to provide valuable back up and assistance for the sales and marketing division. Coming to the U.S. from Erolzheim, Germany, she has undergone a three-year training program at the company headquarters in Germany that has seen the piano playing dancer achieve a business degree and extensive experience in all office-based competences. Capable of speaking German, English and Spanish, and also currently learning French, Gruber is an ambitious individual that will undoubtedly thrive under the challenges presented to her by the North American office.

To ensure unparalleled level of customer service and support, the company will shortly add a new service engineer to the team that brings a depth of knowledge developed within the service industry. It is with regret that the company announces that Scott Ries has left for new pastures. As a PCD product manager, he was a valued part of the team and his customers will be taken care of by regional managers that will maintain their current levels of support. Furthermore, company president Peter Allen is on hand to share his 25+ years of PCD expertise and support the Carnegie office with all enquiries and customer visits.

Upon his departure, Ries commented that his action “should not in any way be perceived as a negative reflection on either Vollmer products or technology. As a long-time PCD guy, I continue to believe that this company provides the best technical solutions for the production of PCD tools and materials. In addition, I feel very positive about the direction the company is taking and look forward to continuing to promote both the products and technology when asked by others in the industry.” So, from everyone at Vollmer to Scott: good luck for the future.
