WARDJet (Tallmadge, OH) is pleased to announce DSG Waterjet Ltd. (Chorley, England) as their authorized representative in the United Kingdom. DSG directors Carl Sandell and Andy Dodd discussed their background in the waterjet industry and how it led to this exciting new partnership.
The diversity of the machine and its ability to cut so many different materials accurately and at such high quality that initially drew these directors into waterjet technology. They both began in the industry as waterjet machine operators, then quickly moved to servicing machines and eventually machine sales. They then began their own fabrication shop called Northwest Waterjet. Twelve months later, they formed Northwest’s sister company, DSG Waterjet. “We decided to set up DSG as a separate company to do service and spares because the UK has very few independent service contractors for waterjets,” they explained. “We saw a massive gap in the market and wanted to attack it.”
The two directors noticed that customers often feel obligated to a manufacturer for parts, service and garnet. If a shop has two machines from two different manufacturers they are forced to go to two different people to service it. With their combined experience and skillset, DSG is one of the few companies in the UK that is able to service any kind of waterjet machinery.
DSG business grew again in the past year. Dodd noticed advertisements for the WARDKit and immediately recognized the value of building their own high quality waterjet system. He traveled to WARDJet headquarters in Tallmadge and decided to join their KITributor program, assembling, installing and supporting turnkey WARDKit units in the UK.
WARDJet management was so impressed with DSG’s depth of experience and passion for waterjet technology that chief operating officer Brian Beheydt approached its directors to become the company’s authorized representatives in the UK. “They have the technical expertise and passion for the waterjet industry that we need to support our existing install base and to grow our sales of new systems,” stated Beheydt.
Sandell is looking forward to working with WARDJet on the custom side of the things, which he recognizes is an untapped market. “Customers are currently tied to what’s on offer in the UK with a standard machine platform,” he noted. “Custom waterjets have just not been readily available over here.” It seems safe to say that the real winners in this partnership are future customers.
This partnership could not have come at a better time for WARDJet, as they were seeking to expand their presence in the UK. With their central location just north of Manchester and team of skilled technicians, DSG Waterjet will be able to handle service for the UK customer base better than ever before. As the only authorized representatives for WARDJet in the UK, DSG is also offering the full line of the company’s waterjets and accessories, from budget-friendly machines to complex custom waterjet systems.
