Fast Multi-Process Plasma Cutting Operations

Messer Cutting Systems offers their MetalMaster Xcel plasma cutting machine with HPR400XD plasma bevel cutting and marking.

Posted: January 4, 2016

Booth S-3913: With traverse speeds of 3,000 ipm and high acceleration drives, the MetalMaster Xcel plasma cutting machine from Messer Cutting Systems will demonstrate HPR400XD plasma bevel cutting and marking. This machine can be equipped with one plasma head and one fiber laser head, two plasma heads (one a bevel head), or two fiber laser heads.
Booth S-3913: Ideal for steel service, job shop and heavy industry applications, the MPC2000 multi-process plasma bevel cutting machine from Messer Cutting Systems will demonstrate a heavy-duty two-inch drill, ALFA oxyfuel torch, and TELESIS PINSTAMP® marker. The MPC2000 can be equipped with multiple carriages for up to five separate processes, including precision plasma, conventional plasma, oxyfuel, drill and markers.

In Booth S-3913, Messer Cutting Systems, Inc. (Menomonee Falls, WI) will perform live demonstrations of their MetalMaster Xcel plasma cutting machine with HPR400XD plasma bevel cutting and marking. This has proven to be exactly what shops need: a faster, more accurate way of cutting accurate parts. With state-of-the-art industry-leading traverse speeds of 3,000 ipm, a robust design, and high acceleration drives, increasing production for many metal cutting industries. It is basically two machines in one that can be equipped with the following:

  • One plasma head and one fiber laser head
  • Two plasma heads, one of which can be a bevel head
  • Two fiber laser heads

The plasma/fiber laser combination cuts the same piece part, allowing critical internal features to be cut with the fiber laser and external features to be cut with the plasma torch without moving the part to another piece of equipment. Parts can be cut using only one process or utilizing both plasma and fiber laser to maximize production. The unitized machine design provides an extremely accurate machine platform with ease of installation. Also, .7:1 ratio internal holes can be cut with a laser head, which is less than the 1:1 ratio holes produced with even the best plasma technology. The ultra-high acceleration rates provide sharp, clean corners that are clean of dross. Part accuracy and repeatability have been increased with linear ways and helical gears on all axes. In addition to plasma, laser and oxyfuel cutting processes, it supports a drill, plasma beveling and multiple marking tools. Shuttle tables and a variety of material handling packages are available to maximize productivity.

Also on display will be the MPC2000 multi-process plasma bevel cutting machine that will be demonstrating a heavy-duty two-inch drill, ALFA oxyfuel torch, and TELESIS PINSTAMP® marker. The machine can be equipped with multiple carriages and up to five separate processes including precision plasma, conventional plasma, oxyfuel, drill and markers, all on one machine. Building on an already strong reputation in the steel service, job shop and heavy industry market, it has been redesigned with large 45 mm linear ways and bigger end trucks. These improvements allow for even more tools to be installed while providing more smooth motion. High accuracy, repeatability and durability are still cornerstones of this large gantry machine. Up to four plasma stations and 12 oxyfuel torches can be used to increase productivity by cutting multipart simultaneously. This is the most accurate, durable and configurable large-gantry cutting machine in the market.

Messer’s exclusive Slagger systems are available with most machines to provide a quick, effective method of cleaning dry downdraft tables, many in less than five minutes. Visitors are invited to try out the interactive kiosk featuring the Global Control. Messer personnel will be available to provide custom demonstrations of OmniWin CAD/CAM software.
