A line of sapphire cover glass windows for 4 kW and larger industrial cutting lasers that prevent contamination of the fiber lens from debris is available from Laser Research Optics (Providence, RI). Sapphire Fiber Laser Windows feature Moh 9 hardness, which is second only to diamond. They also feature a 10-5 scratch-dig finish and can withstand steel splatter, flash, and debris. Providing 1/4 wave transmitted wave-front, these highly polished sapphire windows are ideally suited for use as debris shields on 1064 nm industrial cutting lasers from 4 kW and above.
Reducing the typical number of lens changes, Sapphire Fiber Laser Windows have A/R coatings on both sides and provide > 99.5 percent transmission at 1.07 microns, with > 90 percent at 650 nm to 670 nm. Available in 1 in to 2 in sizes, sapphire is harder and more durable than quartz. Sapphire C-Plane windows coated on one or two sides are also offered. Sapphire Fiber Laser Windows are priced according to size and quantity. Price quotations are available upon request.
