The video details that electron beam welding is ideal when your application requires a very precise, clean weld with minimal heating of the material outside the primary area of the weld. Additionally, EB Welding is excellent for deep penetration welds, up to 2 in thick steel. The process is also great for joining dissimilar and hard to weld metals.
Laser Beam Welding is ideal for applications requiring pin-point accuracy at high production rates. It is non-contact, doesn’t require a vacuum, and is excellent for joining thin materials and small components, the video shows.
“We have found that companies are not clear on which of these services should be used. We see this question over and over and felt there was a real need for an informative and detailed video explaining each process and the advantages of each,” John DeLalio, the director of business development, explained. “While we feature this information in print on our website, we felt the video would offer a much clearer picture of laser and eb welding as well as the costs associated with both. We also plan to produce a series of additional videos on the intricacies of laser and electron beam welding as well as hermetic sealing. We know the need for this information is out there and hope to educate our clients and prospects on the best options available to them, DeLalio said.
