O’Neal Manufacturing Services Names New President

Larry Whitehead has joined O’Neal Manufacturing Services (OMS; Birmingham, AL) as the president of the company. He has extensive experience leading several large and successful steel-related fabricating/manufacturing businesses over a period of 40 years, most recently as the chief executive officer of Manchester Tank, a multi-location manufacturer comparable to OMS in sales volume and employment. Whitehead is a graduate of Jacksonville State University.

He succeeds Steve McCracken, who will retire after a 35-year career at the end of 2016. For the remainder of the year McCracken, who has been named the vice president of O’Neal Industries, Inc. (ONI; Birmingham, AL), the parent company of OMS, will assist with this transition, as well as work on projects for the leadership team at ONI. McCracken, who has had a long and successful career at both ONI and OMS, has been at the helm as the president of OMS since the company was formed in 2011.

OMS offers outsourced manufacturing of fabricated metal components and welded sub-assemblies. It has nine facilities in the U.S. and Mexico.

ONI is the U.S.’s largest family-owned group of metals service centers. Based in Birmingham, AL they have more than 80 distribution and manufacturing facilities throughout North America, Europe and Asia.
