Premium Feeding for Construction and Field Welding

These advanced wire feeders from ESAB are ideal for ship/barge, off-shore and construction applications where operators change welding parameters, use hotter settings for welding in the flat position and cooler settings for welding vertical up.

Housed inside a high-strength steel casing and steel frame to protect controls and connectors, the remoted-controlled Warrior YardFeed 200 portable wire feeder from ESAB delivers premium feeding performance, especially with cored wires common in construction, field repair, railcar, ship and barge building.
The portable MobileFeed 301AVS wire feeder from ESAB features a super impact-resistant, flame-retardant case that protects against dirt, metal grit, moisture, and extreme abuse from grinding sparks, corrosive chemicals, and drops. When paired with a CV power source, it produces quality MIG short arc welds with smaller diameter solid wires that is ideal for contractors working on construction side projects.

ESAB Welding & Cutting Products (Florence, SC) offers their new Warrior® YardFeed 200 and MobileFeed 301AVS, which join the previously launched MobileFeed 201AVS to provide a complete line of portable wire feeders compatible with the Warrior 400i MV CC/CV and Warrior 500i power sources. All feeders deliver premium feeding performance, especially with the cored wires common in construction, field repair, railcar, ship and barge building. The Warrior YardFeed 200 provides remote control of the voltage and wire feed speed at the feeder, including the ability to pre-set wire feed speed. It holds an 8 in diameter spool of wire and can run wire diameters from .023 in solid wire to 1/16 in Flux-Cored wires. Maximum permissible load is 365 amps @ 60 percent duty cycle. The unit measures just 23.4 in x 8.5 in x 12.8 in, so it easily fits through manholes, portals and other hard-to-reach areas. A high-strength steel casing and steel frame protect controls and connectors.

“The Warrior YardFeed enables easy handling in cramped spaces, such as those found in the ship/barge, off-shore and construction industries,” said Dave Perkins, the North America technical product manager for ESAB. “The ability to adjust voltage and wire feed speed remotely can also increase productivity when operators need to change welding parameters, such as using hotter settings for welding in the flat position and cooler settings for welding vertical up.”

The MobileFeed 301AVS wire feeder is a voltage-sensing feeder powered off the welding arc that works with any CV or CC welding power supply. It has a duty cycle of 450A at 60 percent, handles wire spools up to 12 in and runs .023 in to 5/64 in diameter wires (it comes from the factory with drive rolls for welding .045 in to 1/6 in wires). It has an empty weight of 35 lb and measures 21 in x 17 in x 8 in. MobileFeed 301 AVS features a super impact-resistant, flame-retardant case that protects against dirt, metal grit, and moisture, as well as extreme abuse from grinding sparks, corrosive chemicals, and drops. “Because it eliminates the need for a control cable, the MobileFeed 301AVS is for contractors who value simplicity and performance,” added Perkins. “When paired with a CV power source, the MobileFeed 301AVS produces quality MIG short arc welds with smaller diameter solid wires, which makes it handy for construction side projects.”

Both feeders have sun-friendly voltage and wire feed speed displays that are easy to read outdoors. Both units also feature a drive roll design that combines two lower gear-driven rollers with two upper idler/smooth pressure rollers. This design produces considerably less scrubbing of the wire, reducing debris generation by 8 times to 12 times than that typically created from a 4-roll drive system. Reduced debris extends liner life by 30 percent to 60 percent. An upper idler system also doesn’t mar the wire like a 4-roll drive system, resulting in 4X to 6X longer contact tip life with cored wires.

ESAB also offers an extensive line of welding filler metals that meet the Buy America provision and are eligible for use in public projects funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), which was signed into law in 2009 to protect the American worker by saving and creating jobs. The Act includes the Buy America provision requiring the use of U.S.-made products for projects funded by the U.S. government and procurements made by U.S. government agencies or the military. Buy America stipulates that filler metals made from steel are made with steel melted and manufactured in the United States. This impacts projects for rail or road transportation, such as the construction of highways, railways, or rapid transit systems, as well as federally-funded structural buildings.

ESAB offers the widest assortment of filler metals that use steel made and melted in the U.S. These include flux-cored wire, such as the popular Dual Shield® X-Series cored wires; Atom Arc® Stick electrodes, including Atom Arc 7018 and Atom Arc 7018 Acclaim; Spoolarc® Submerged Arc Welding wires and Spoolarc GMAW (MIG) wires, and others. All are certified by ESAB to meet Buy America specifications. These Buy America filler metals and certifications are offered at no additional cost.

ESAB also offers the multifaceted, all encompassed, heavy-duty ESP-150 water-cooled plasma cutting and gouging system that is ideal for manual and mechanized applications. The ESP-150 provides greater productivity through high speed cutting of most metals, from gauge thickness to 2 in (51 mm) thick plate. It is versatile with 230/460/575V and 220/380/415V, 3 ph inputs and has adjustable output from 25A to 150A. The ESP-150 has a built-in water cooler that simplifies maintenance with less hookup, no wiring issues and no extra hoses. Water flow is controlled with the power supply. Its leather sheath-wrapped torch protects torch leads from abrasion and molten metal. The system cuts with air, nitrogen, argon/hydrogen mixtures or nitrogen/hydrogen mixtures.

The built-in CNC interface on the ESP-150 provides easy connection of automation applications. Its torch design, which has a one-year warranty, provides perfect electrode centering and longer tip life by minimizing the possibility of double-arcing. A torch spare parts kit is supplied with each outfit, along with an ample supply of spare parts at no additional cost to minimize downtime. Thermal overload switches prevent damage if unit the overheats due to insufficient air flow. Automatic intermittent cutting by the ESP-150 permits continuous cutting of grates, expanded metal, heavy screen material, etc.
