Michael Dougherty, the president of D&S Manufacturing (Black River Falls, WI), announces the acquisition of a new 308HV4 Carell double pinch angle roll. “We continually consider opportunities to enhance our core competency to provide turnkey custom metal fabrication services to our customers,” he stated. This new unit increases their in-house roll bending range and adds more to the plant’s versatility as a turnkey supplier by maintaining greater control over the quality of their fabrication.
The double initial pinch universal roll bending machine is equipped with three driven rolls. The three shafts are each driven with a direct coupled hydraulic motor and planetary speed reducer offering 100 percent efficient torque delivery. Powered movements on lateral material guides have been added for increased accuracy and efficiency. The double pinch unit allows for reduced operator handling by pre-bending both plate ends without removing the part.
While existing fabrication equipment allows them to roll parts up to 10 ft long, this new double pinch angle roll significantly increases the shop’s ability to roll thick narrow parts. It will accommodate flat parts up to 5 ½ in x ¾ in the hard way, with a minimum diameter of 60 in and 8 in x 2 in the easy way, with a minimum diameter of 42 in. Along with flat part rolling capability, this unit will also accommodate pipe Schedule 40 up to 5 in, with a minimum diameter of 70 in, angle leg-in up to 4 in x ½ in, with a minimum diameter of 48 in and I-Beam up to S8 in x 23 in with a minimum diameter of 48 in.
Since 1965, ISO 9001:2008-certified D&S Manufacturing has served as a custom manufacturer of exceptional quality large scale components, assemblies, and complete weldments. Their capabilities include laser, high definition plasma, and oxy-fuel cutting; vertical and horizontal machining; and manual and robotic welding.
