Automator America Inc. (Ashville, OH) gets the grip with hand-held marking requirements by introducing the VIS-P portable laser marker, an extremely light and solid unit that is easy to use when marking. The VIS-P comes standard with laser sources options that include IVO₄, 10 Watt, 20 Watt, 30 Watt and 40 Watt. It is great for mark metals, alloys, and anodized, painted surfaces. Its two laser handles and Snorkel insure an accurate and safe laser beam up to 3 ft that allows marking of large, oversized components on the spot.

This robust and compact laser system is air cooled for economical operation. The laser marker comes standard with a marking area of 110 mm x 110 mm (4.33 in x 4.33 in). Alternative size marking areas are options. Also included in the package is the galvometric head, laser source, electronics, and external power supply.

Operation is easy with the multilingual Genius™ software. Marking details such as serial numbers, straight line and arc text with full TIF capability, basic geometrical figures, shift and date codes, bar codes and 2D/Data matrix are standard capabilities for complete traceability. Logos and pictures are easily added to marking files by importing .dxf, .wmf and .plt formats. Options are available for automated data entry with bar code scanners.

As an option the marker can operate without a PC using the MarkAlone™ platform. It also accepts signals from PLC digital I/O for diagnostic output and control input, as well as Ethernet or serial connections. Automator has been providing marking solutions since 1940 through a global network of direct sales offices and representation. In addition to the Lasers, their product line includes dot peen systems, hot-stamping and impact presses, and roll marking machines.
