Güdel Appoints New CEO
Stuart Shepherd takes over the operations and performance of the U.S. and Canadian business.

Güdel, Inc. (Ann Arbor, MI), the U.S. subsidiary of Güdel Group AG (Langenthal, Switzerland), has announced the appointment of Stuart “Stu” Shepherd as their new chief executive officer, following the retirement of Stefan Nilsson. Reporting directly to Martin Sträb, the president and chairman of the group executive board, Shepherd will be responsible for the operations and performance of the U.S. and Canadian business.
“We are pleased to have Stu join the leadership team of Güdel U.S.,” stated Sträb. “The group executive board is confident that he will continue to build on the considerable success of Stefan and lead our company to the next level of performance.”
Prior to joining the company Shepherd was the vice president of sales in the Americas for KUKA U.S. Holdings Company and served as a member of the management boards for KUKA Roboter do Brasil, KUKA Robotics Canada, and KUKA de Mexico. He is currently serving as the first past chair of the Robotics Industry Association executive committee and is a board member for the Association for Advanced Automation. He has over 37 years of automation industry experience in sales, marketing, engineering, operations management, customer service and training, and is a graduate of Purdue University.
Güdel is a global manufacturer of robotic automation products, systems and services that supplies linear motion modules, robot track motion units, gantry robots and components to OEMs, systems integrators and machine builders serving the automotive, aerospace, logistics, heavy industrial and power generation industries. Their dedicated 45,000 sq ft facility in Ann Arbor provides North American customers with engineering, design, production, and customer service support. They also operate a satellite engineering office in Troy, MI.
The Güdel Group was founded in 1954. Headquartered in Langenthal, they now operate in 21 locations worldwide.
