In Booth S-8754, GF Machining Solutions (Lincolnshire, IL) will debut their new AgieCharmilles CUT 2000 X advanced wire EDM, full 5-axis additions within its Mikron MILL S and X product line and advanced automation systems. They will also showcase their latest groundbreaking developments in additive manufacturing and System 3R automated laser texturing, along with several other recent advancements in 5-axis milling and both die sinking and wire EDM machine technologies that target the specific needs of industries such as aerospace, medical and die/mold. Their theme at the show will be “Our Solutions Beyond Machine Tools,” reflecting the focus on ensuring customers receive comprehensive solutions to their challenges.
As the newest member of the AgieCharmilles CUT family of high-precision machines, the CUT 2000 X eliminates pitch and positioning errors that would otherwise result in scrapped parts and increased production costs. The machine’s precise positioning capabilities allow it hold very tight part tolerances for the utmost in quality and surface finish. With the CUT 2000 X, shops can easily achieve ± 1.5 μm pitch accuracy over 340 mm x 240 mm and the same for M-shape form accuracy. Stringent factory assembly standards and specific calibration tests ensure the machine’s performance for today’s complex, high-precision workpieces.
The new Mikron MILL X 600 U that will be unveiled further expands a range of milling machines designed specifically for the production of high accuracy parts with concave and convex part surfaces, especially under high feed rate conditions. Mikron MILL machines generate superior surface finishes and cut parts to exacting tolerances. The new machine will be demonstrated within a FANUC automated multi-machine manufacturing cell that shows a full lights-out operation scenario. The cell will also house a Mikron HEM 500U milling machine and a high-precision coordinate measuring machine (CMM).
Other technology advancements coming to the show include:
- Additive manufacturing: The AgieCharmilles AM S 290 Tooling machine incorporates additive processes based on the technology of the EOS M 290 metal laser sintering system.
- Automated laser texturing: The compact 5-axis AgieCharmilles LASER P 400U machine provides easy, repeatable laser engraving texturing and structuring for small parts.
- The recently released Mikron MILL P 800 U ST (Simultaneous Turning) combines milling and turning in a single machine. The combination improves productivity, accuracy and cost effectiveness and eliminates transfer-related part errors, making it especially valuable for aerospace applications.
- The Mikron HSM 400U milling machine provides full 5-axis simultaneous high-speed machining in a compact footprint that accommodates workpieces up to 9.05 in x 13.77 in. This machine will highlight a post processing application for additive-built conformal mold inserts.
- Through its special rotary/tilt table and 20,000 rpm StepTec spindle, the cost effective Mikron HEM 500U delivers accurate and reliable parts production through highly efficient, 5-axis-simultaneous single-setup machining.
- The Liechti GoMill 350 is part of range of 5-axis milling machines engineered specifically for machining turbines for aircraft engines and power generation.
- The high-performance, high-productivity CUT E350 wire EDM incorporates several technologies to help manufacturers increase flexibility, accelerate time to market and reduce cutting times by up to 18 percent.
- The CUT 200 Dedicated wire EDM for the Aerospace market delivers speed, performance, quality and productivity – in addition to the ability to control production costs.
- The highly-efficient FORM 20 die sinking EDM conserves energy through its Intelligent Power Generator that optimizes the EDM process and dramatically reduces electrode wear. The FORM 20 will be shown with a System 3R WorkPartner 1+ robot.
- The FORM 200 die sinking EDM equipped with the Intelligent Speed Power Generator reduces electrode wear and provides quality surface finishes, increased material removal and high accuracy, even in applications involving deep, narrow cavities and poor flushing conditions. This machine excels at applications in difficult aerospace alloys.
