How to Increase Sensor Life on Weld Purge Monitors

Replacement sensors for the PurgEye 100 Weld Purge Monitor from HFT are kept sealed in an inert environment until they are opened for use to significantly raise their lifespan.

HFT's PurgEye 100 Weld Purge Monitor has a clear, easy to read LCD screen, which also shows a low battery indicator. When the monitor is not in use an automatic sleep mode activates to conserve battery life.

It is vital during the welding of stainless steel, titanium and nickel alloy to monitor the oxygen level at the weld root to ensure non-oxidised, zero colour welds are achieved. The lifetime and accuracy of the oxygen sensor within the Weld Purge Monitor® is critical to the continuous achievement of such welds. Replacement sensors for the PurgEye® 100 Weld Purge Monitor from Huntingdon Fusion Techniques (HFT®; Carms, UK) are now delivered in a unique sealed package. These sensors are kept sealed in an inert environment until they are opened for use. As a result, the lifespan of each sensor is raised significantly.

The low cost unique oxygen monitor is IP65 rated, which reads from atmospheric level down to 100 parts per million (ppm) to ensure that high quality welds are achieved repeatedly.

“The monitor is designed with a special sensor, which monitors the exact level of oxygen during welding,” stated Luke Keane, of distributor support for HFT. “It has a low sensor warning, so unlike other oxygen analyzers, the user knows that it is reading correctly and exactly when the sensor needs changing. Furthermore, the operators can press the auto calibration button at any time during a weld, to ensure correct readings.”

The monitor has a clear, easy to read LCD screen that also shows a low battery indicator. When the monitor is not in use an automatic sleep mode activates to conserve battery life. The heavily updated monitor has replaced the previous model, the MKV monitor, which many companies internationally are still using today. Unlike the MKV, it is designed with innovative leak-tight push buttons, auto calibration features, a vacuum-sealed leak-tight probe assembly, wrist/neck strap, optional rubber housing protector and tripod mount.
