Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology, Inc. (CCAT; East Hartford, CT) has been named an Innovation Center under the Manufacturing Technology Innovation Program of the Rhode Island Manufacturers Association (RIMA; Smithfield, RI) to help the development and growth of Rhode Island small manufacturing companies with precision machining optimization, reverse engineering projects, 3D printing with metals and plastics, business assessments, prototyping or other product development assistance that will now be conducted in collaboration with CCAT’s Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMC).
The technology program is providing matching grant funding to shops seeking access to the expertise they need to become more efficient, productive, and profitable. It is made possible by a grant awarded to RIMA from the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation’s Innovation Program. Under the program, RIMA reimburses the lesser amount of 50 percent or $15,000 of the cost of a contract between a qualifying Rhode Island manufacturer and CCAT. Companies are responsible for covering any costs above the reimbursement and contract directly with CCAT.
“We are proud to be named an Innovation Center as part of their Manufacturing Technology Innovation Program, which is designed to further the growth of smaller manufacturers,” stated Elliot Ginsberg, the president and chief executive officer of CCAT. “As a regional and national resource, our AMC offers customized support through our team of technology professionals and access to the latest technology advances in 3D printing with metals and plastics, as well as precision machining. With our expertise in the aerospace and defense, biomedical, and alternative energy manufacturing sectors and our experience supporting smaller manufacturers in the region, we look forward to partnering with RIMA to bolster manufacturing innovation and growth through this exciting new program.”
“Our program is helping to grow the Rhode Island manufacturing sector by increasing affordable access to advanced manufacturing facilities and expanding supply chains for smaller enterprises,” added Bill McCourt, the president and chief executive officer of RIMA. “CCAT’s strong technical reputation and experience working with smaller shops make it a perfect partner for this new program.”
