Hardinge Inc. (Elmira, NY), a leading international provider of advanced metal cutting solutions, announces the release of their newest vertical machining centers, the Bridgeport V480 and the Bridgeport V710. Both machines feature fast rapid rates, high axis and spindle acceleration/deceleration, and a powerful Mitsubishi control packed with many standard features.

From job-shop type work to high production manufacturing, each machine tool simply outperforms the average machine in its class. With heavy duty cast iron construction, 8,278 lb machine weight for the V480 and 8,613 lb for the V710, 10 hp /7.5 kW, 33 ft-lb /47 Nm spindle torque, a 20 station Swing Arm ATC and manual pulse generator (MPG), these competitively priced machines are best in class.

Both are ideal for job shops or OEMs and are designed with flexibility and throughput in mind. These machines are quick with a small compact footprint, yet rugged and developed for applications that require a rigid, fast and accurate set-up. These fully digital machines offer rapid traverse rates of 1,417 ipm in X, Y and Z, and acceleration rates of X: 6 m/sec² / Y: 4.6  m/sec² / Z: 3.75 m/sec² for fast and accurate response. Axis travels are:

V480 X:   18.9 in  (480 mm) Y: 15.75 in (400 mm) Z:  16.93 in (430 mm)

V710 X:  27.87 in (708 mm) Y: 15.75 in (400 mm) Z:  16.93 in (430 mm)

Standard machine features include a 10.4 in color LCD, CT40 or BT40 Big Plus spindle, 10,000 rpm direct coupled greased spindle, circular flushing ring, coolant chip flush system, three-color stack light, 20 tool ATC and many others. These machine tools are offered with a Mitsubishi M70V type A control. Navi-Mill and embedded Ethernet are also standard. Some of the popular available options with these machines include 12,000 rpm and 15,000 rpm spindles, CTS-Deublin rotary union, through-spindle coolant, 280 psi air blast, chip conveyors, spindle chiller and 4th-axis pre-wiring.

“These Bridgeports offer a high degree of sophistication and functionality at an attractive price,” said Brooke Sykes, the director of sales and service for the Turning/Milling Group.
