In Booth 3125, Aberlink USA Inc. (North Branford, CT) features their award-winning Xtreme CNC coordinate measuring machine that uses a non-Cartesian structure and utilizes linear motors and mechanical bearings to provide a robust solution with precision inspection results. This advantageous configuration ensures that unique CMM maintains its accuracy at very fast measurement rates and does not suffer from the accumulative inaccuracies that can occur in conventional three-axis Cartesian designs. The innovative Xtreme is an evolution of CMM technology, but its price is what will have such a significant effect on the market, with the potential for multiple units replacing a single inspection room CMM to ensure that measurement is provided close to where it is required.
The Xtreme is a self-contained inspection unit that has no air bearings, so no requirement for compressed air – just plug it in and go. Built-in temperature control and a compact footprint allow this system to be placed wherever it is needed. Key features include:
- No compressed air required: this CMM is ‘plug and go’.
- The mechanical design is robust and ideal for tough environments.
- Built-in temperature control.
- Aberlink’s revolutionary easy-to-use measurement software.
- Shortest learning curve of any equivalent system: one day without prior CMM experience.
- Smallest overall footprint of any comparable size CMM

Also on display will be the Axiom too HS CNC coordinate measuring machine, the high specification variation of the acclaimed Axiom too CNC CMM that makes inspection bottlenecks a thing of the past through greater accuracy, higher acceleration and faster travel. The Axiom too HS incorporates “drive rod technology” that is developed for larger machines and vision systems to generate greater acceleration/deceleration by providing approximately 20 percent faster inspection than standard belt drive systems. The HS model is ideal for high volume/high accuracy measurement applications and utilizes 0.1µm resolution scales on each axis. In addition, it includes state-of-the-art error mapping techniques that are ideal when measuring tight tolerances. The Axiom too HS can be supplied with any Renishaw touch trigger probe and probe head:
- MH20i / RTP20
- PH10T (wTP20, TP200)
- PH20
- PH10M (w/SP25)
- PH6M (wSP25)
Key features of the Axiom too HS coordinate measuring machine include:
- Aberlink’s revolutionary “easy-to-use” measurement software.
- Shortest learning curve of any equivalent system: one day without prior CMM experience.
- Smallest overall footprint of any comparable size CMM.
- Choice of Y-axis sizes ranging from 600 mm to 1,500 mm.
- 0.0001 mm linear encoders for superior accuracy.
- Zero backlash drive system for quicker acceleration and faster travel.
- Optimized friction free air bearings, all aluminum bridge and granite table.
- Free stylus change rack with every motorized probe head upgrade.
