Renishaw and Identify3D Collaborate on Digital Manufacturing

Users of Renishaw AM systems can protect their digital intellectual property, enforce production rules and provide traceability in the digital supply chain.

Renishaw Inc. (West Dundee, IL), a world leader in metrology and additive manufacturing (AM) technologies, and Identify3D (San Francisco, CA), a leader in software for the digital supply chain, announced a collaboration to offer an end-to-end, secure digital manufacturing process. Identify3D will provide data protection coupled with contractual and manufacturing licensing from design to production on Renishaw AM systems. By choosing to secure all digital data in the engineering phase, Identify3D software enables users of Renishaw systems to protect their digital intellectual property (IP), enforce production rules and provide traceability in the digital supply chain at the industry’s highest standard.

“They understand how important it is to have an efficient and reliable control of data flow all the way to their machines,” said Stephan Thomas, the chief strategy officer at Identify3D. “We are pleased that, as one of the world’s leading engineering and scientific technology companies, Renishaw has selected us as a strategic partner to provide such a system to the marketplace, from design to distribution and production.”

“Industrializing AM requires that we manage and control a complex chain of processes to deliver consistent, traceable and qualified parts,” added Marc Saunders, the director of global solutions centers at Renishaw. “Secure transmission and controlled use of digital IP is critical to enable agile Industry 4.0 supply chains. We believe that Identify3D brings strong and necessary software to increase these controls, minimizing variation, and improve and protect AM production quality.”

The two companies are currently working together on pilot projects for several manufacturing customers. This collaboration will enable market sectors such as aerospace, automotive, defence and medical devices to accelerate their adoption of AM, enabling secure distributed manufacturing across their supply chains.
