The new Dynasty 280 DX with CV from Miller Electric Mfg. Co. (Appleton, WI) is a multiprocess welder capable of AC/DC TIG, MIG and stick welding. Weighing just 55 lb, this portable machine is suitable for the shop or jobsite for applications including shipbuilding, construction, precision fabrication, heavy fabrication, pipe and tube fabrication, and maintenance and repair. “This machine is where portability meets multiprocess for a wide range of applications,” says Brian Bellile, a product manager for Miller Electric. “This is the most versatile, portable machine in its class.” With the Dynasty 280 DX with CV, welding operators can TIG weld 0.012 in to 3/8 in aluminum and 0.004 in to 3/8 in steel. The machine offers superior arc performance and the ability to TIG weld with AC waveforms, including advanced squarewave, soft squarewave, sine wave and triangular wave. Offering multiprocess versatility, the CV output of the machine delivers MIG welding capabilities when paired with a SuitCase® X-TREME™ voltage-sensing feeder that is powered off the arc voltage of the power source and can run both solid and flux-cored wires.

The Dynasty 280 DX with CV delivers up to 280 amps for welding and includes Auto-Line™ technology that allows for any input voltage hookup from 208 volts to 575 volts with no manual linking. This provides convenience for any job setting and is ideal for applications where there is dirty or unreliable power. This machine also uses high frequency (HF) on starts only to eliminate HF interference issues during welding. Blue Lightning™ high-frequency arc starter technology provides non-contact arc initiation, resulting in more consistent arc starts and greater reliability compared to traditional HF arc starters. Operators can make precision adjustments using the machine’s all-digital controls, for greater quality control and repeatability. The Dynasty 280 DX with CV also includes Pro-Set™ technology that eliminates the guesswork when setting weld parameters. Operators can simply select the feature and adjust until Pro-Set appears in the display.

Dynasty 400 and Maxstar 400 welders deliver up to 400 amps of output power and exceptional TIG and stick welding performance for pipe and tube fabrication, precision fabrication and exotic material fabrication. Replacing the Dynasty 350 model, the Dynasty 400 power source is AC/DC TIG-stick-capable and welds up to 5/8 in thick aluminum and steel in a single pass. The DC TIG-stick-capable Maxstar 400 (replacing the Maxstar 350 model) welds up to 5/8 in thick steel in a single pass. Designed for fast and easy upgrade flexibility, these models include a front-panel memory card data port for the download of software updates from MillerWelds.com/tigsoftware and the purchase of product feature expansions. The memory card data port provides access to the most up-to-date software so owners can maximize budgets and gain the best machine performance over a longer period of time. Auto-Line power management technology adds convenience by allowing the machines to connect to almost any type of available input power and produce a steady, high-quality arc. Welding operators can work in more places while maintaining a steady welding output for consistently high-quality welds. The Dynasty 400 also features improved arc stability and performance, resulting in smoother welds. Both models are fully compatible with Miller wireless remote control so that operators can weld more safely and faster up to 300 ft away (with hand control) from the power source. Eliminating cord tangles or failures also helps increase time and money savings, and precise operator control at the weld joint further improves overall weld quality.

Dynasty 800 and the Maxstar 800 TIG welding systems deliver up to 800 amps of output power and exceptional TIG and stick welding performance for pipe and tube fabrication and other applications, even in adverse environmental conditions. The Dynasty 800 power source is AC/DC TIG and stick-capable, rated for 1 in thick aluminum and steel. It replaces the previous Dynasty 700 model. The DC TIG and stick-capable Maxstar 800 replaces the Maxstar 700 model and is rated up to 1 in thick steel. Meter calibration on these machines allows the digital meters to be accurately adjusted for certification, saving time and confusion during process audits. Standardized menus on the power sources also help reduce welding operator training time and labor costs. Miller has expanded their ArcReach remote control technology to more engine-driven power sources and is now available on Trailblazer 325 power sources, as well as Big Blue 600 Air Pak, 800 Duo Pro and 800 Duo Air Pak models, providing complete control of welding parameters at the weld joint without a control cord.

This makes ArcReach capabilities available or standard on nearly all products in the Big Blue lineup and on Trailblazer 325 models for greater flexibility and fleet compatibility in heavy industrial applications, maintenance and repair rigs, construction, mining maintenance, railroad maintenance and pipe welding. The same ArcReach accessories that work on ArcReach-equipped XMT® and Dimension™ power sources are now also compatible with select Trailblazer and Big Blue engine-driven power sources so that shops can expand use of the technology with their existing accessories: legacy wire feeders and stick/TIG remotes still work with ArcReach-equipped machines so that shops can fully utilize their existing accessories and equipment until they are ready to replace or upgrade.
