Met-L-Flo Partners with Carbon 3D

Met-L-Flo now uses Carbon digital 3D manufacturing systems to make parts with exceptional mechanical properties, resolution, and surface finish.

Posted: April 20, 2018

Met-L-Flo Inc. (Sugar Grove, IL), a 3D printing and rapid prototyping service bureau, is now a production partner with Carbon 3D, Inc. (Redwood City, CA), a Silicon Valley-based digital 3D manufacturing company. The partnership was announced at the 30th anniversary of the Additive Manufacturing Users Group Conference 2018 and is effectively immediately.

Carbon’s digital 3D manufacturing system is regarded as one of the most advanced forms of new manufacturing technologies, working at the intersection of hardware, software, and molecular science. Their SpeedCell™ system and Digital Light Synthesis™ technology deliver a breakthrough process that uses digital light projection, oxygen permeable optics, and programmable liquid resins to produce parts with exceptional mechanical properties, resolution, and surface finish.

“Being a production partner with Carbon 3D is going to open up offerings that you can’t create with a traditional machine base,” said Bill Braune, the production manager at Met-l-Flo, who was also involved in early access development and beta testing of Carbon’s original M-1. “It’s definitely going to be game changer for both parties.” The Carbon M-2 Series printer will allow for isotropic parts and properties not previously offered. Parts will now retain consistent strength through out when force is applied at any direction to the mechanics of the part.

“We are pleased to bring on the Carbon technology and look forward to working innovatively with this versatile technology,” said Carl Dekker, the president of Met-L-Flo. “Carbon opens up a whole new area for additive manufacturing applications.”
