Metcam, Inc. (Alpharetta, GA), a metro Atlanta-based fabricator of sheet metal components and assemblies for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), has won three best company awards in a span of five months, including top honors in the state of Georgia and one chosen by their customer out of a group of 1,300 vendors:

  • 2018 Small Manufacturer of the Year during the State of Georgia’s 24th Annual Manufacturing Appreciation Week.
  • 2017 CommScope Supplier of the Year – based on strict adherence to a ten-point supplier goal program for quality, safety, on-time deliveries and technical capabilities, among other requirements.
  • 2017 Small Manufacturer of the Year at Forsyth County’s Manufacturers of Distinction and Leadership Awards.

In mid-April, the company was honored for their economic impact on Georgia, workforce excellence and high degree of corporate responsibility at the 2018 Governor’s Awards Luncheon held at the Georgia International Convention Center in College Park, GA. The small manufacturer classification of the Manufacturer of the Year Awards comprises companies of 150 employees or less. “They are critical to the success of Georgia leading the nation as the best state in the U.S. for doing business for the past five years running,” stated Governor Nathan Deal in referring to the three award-winning manufacturers, including Pratt & Whitney (Columbus, GA) in the large manufacturer classification, and NIBCO (Greensboro, GA) in the medium manufacturer group.

“Winning this award is a testament to our people’s daily commitment to sustainable business practices and producing the highest quality products,” stated Bruce Hagenau, the president of Metcam. “We are very proud to receive the title of Small Manufacturer of the Year in Georgia.” The day before receiving the Governor’s Award, the company was recognized as the 2017 CommScope Supplier of the Year in Dallas, TX. The “Gold Winner” award goes to the supplier with the best ten-point rating for safety, sustainability, Kaizen, ISO 9001, 5S, supplier risk assessment, 100 percent delivery, packaging and transport, and overall technical capabilities.

In November, they took home Small Manufacturer of the Year honors at Forsyth County’s 2017 Manufacturers of Distinction and Leadership Awards, which were created by the Cumming-Forsyth Chamber and the South Forsyth Rotary Club to highlight and celebrate local manufacturers that give back to Forsyth County Schools and local community organizations. Awarded for their 28-year impact on Forsyth County, Metcam regularly hosts educational events, such as Manufacturing Day, supports several Forsyth High School robotic teams and provides students practical experience through internships.

“Being honored for these three exceptional accolades is nothing but a rubber-stamp testimony to the quality and care delivered daily by the our team,” continued Hagenau. “Even though we are a smaller team, we implement programs that much larger manufacturers typically utilize. For example, we’re ISO 9001 and 14001 compliant, we are both a Kaizen and Lean business, and we have several sustainability awards; all of this helps us give our customers a higher overall quality experience. Our CommScope Supplier of the Year award is quite the validation, given it’s our customer and we were up against over 1,300 other vendors.”
