Tooling Tech Group (TTG; Macomb, MI) has announced a 70,000 sq ft expansion of their Majestic Industries, Inc. progressive die and stamping facility in Macomb Township. This expansion will accommodate the installation of a new 2,750 ton Eagle press, as well as providing additional space for their die assembly operations. Known for their expertise in designing and manufacturing progressive dies and short run production, this new equipment will expand Majestic’s capabilities into the transfer die business, providing die design, construction, try-out and production of larger components with more complex features. Construction of the press pit is currently underway, with the press expected to be operational by September 2018.
“This is an exciting addition, as there are very few die shops with a press this large,” said Tony Seger, the company founder and chief executive officer. “This investment enhances our ability to serve our customers as a comprehensive resource, regardless of their stamping process, while creating entirely new revenue opportunities for this company.”
The new Eagle press has a bed size of 280 in (l-r) x 108 in (f-b), a speed of 10 spm to 20 spm, and a 36 in stroke. It can handle coils of aluminum or steel in widths up to 72 in, coil weight of 50,000 lb and material, depending upon width and tensile strength, up to 0.4 mm thick (0.157 in). The company is also investing in ancillary press equipment, including a straightener, feeder, 50,000 lb capacity coil mandrel for running progressive dies and a Linear transfer system for running transfer tooling. This will be the seventh stamping press in the facility, with the others ranging in capability from 500 tons to 1,500 tons; all of which are equipped with tonnage monitors and sensors for pre-sample production runs.
