As the product manager for the TruPunch and TruMatic product lines, he now oversees day-to-day activities of the in-house sales engineer and applications teams for these products, and provides customers with technical expertise to help ensure their products are utilized optimally in applications.

Roger Michaud has been named product manager for the TruPunch and TruMatic product lines at TRUMPF Inc. (Farmington, CT). In his new role, he will oversee day-to-day activities of the in-house sales engineer and applications teams for these products, and provide customers with technical expertise to help ensure their products are utilized optimally in applications.

Michaud succeeds Brian Welz, who has accepted the position of direct sales manager for machine tools in the state of Florida. Michaud will report directly to Burke Doar, the senior vice president of TRUMPF Inc., while Welz will report directly to Stefan Fickenscher, the sales director of the company’s Machine Tool division in the United States.

Michaud began his career at the company as a material handler in 2004. During this time, he also began a two-year laser engineer apprenticeship that he completed in 2006. Additionally, he has worked as a machine mechanic, a laser service engineer, a training engineer, as well as a training engineer and technical supervisor. Most recently, he carried out the role of product support manager for technical services, which he began in 2013.

In other news, the company announced that they will offer a paid parental bonding leave to men and women, as well as a paid family leave to care for a family member with a serious health condition. This new parental bonding policy offers an additional four weeks of paid leave, now allowing mothers up to 12 weeks paid maternity leave to care for a new child. The company will offer fathers or same sex partners the opportunity for up to four weeks paid leave to look after their newest family members. This policy reflects the changing needs of families and demonstrates the company’s commitment to supporting their employees.

“We believe that offering a parental bonding opportunity to all of our eligible employees will help to address their family’s work-life balance within the first year of parenthood,” explained Peter Hoecklin, the president and chief executive officer of TRUMPF. In addition, the company also offers a new family leave policy which allows up to two weeks of paid leave for employees to look after family members with a critical health condition. “We are a family-owned company and our culture values spending time with loved ones,” added Hoecklin. “Unfortunately, some of those times can be difficult, and we want to make it possible for our employees to care for their family.”
