As part of a global initiative to ensure the continued success of their customers, Seco Tools, LLC (Troy, MI) is expanding their customer service capabilities through a partnership with MachineMetrics, Inc. (Northampton, MA), whose manufacturing analytics engine will provide Seco and their customers with a technological resource for their advancement into Industry 4.0. “We have always been committed to providing our customers with the best products and services available. This partnership will allow us to not only continue to help them learn about themselves, but will transform our ability to help them improve their machine tool utilization and production capacity,” said Ben Alexander, the business manager of online services at Seco Tools, which plans to use the Industrial IoT platform and manufacturing analytics applications as a cornerstone in their expansion into new technology services.

Using data provided by these applications, they can apply their extensive experience and engineering capabilities to the continuous improvement of their customers by helping them make data-driven decisions to improve their efficiency and bottom line. By leveraging experience in tooling with data collection capabilities, both Seco and MachineMetrics users gain a deeper understanding of what’s happening with their tools in real-time, including predicting tool life, preventing tool breakages, and feed and speed optimization. “This partnership offers an exciting opportunity to demonstrate the value of data-driven manufacturing and analytics to cutting tool users around the world,” says Bill Bither, the chief executive officer of MachineMetrics. “Together we can uncover industry-first insights into machine tool and tooling optimization that will enhance the availability and reliability of machines for shops.”
