Precise Laser Marking of Parts Without Fixtures

Laser marking stations from FOBA use vision-based technology with an integrated camera to reproduce a mosaic-like tiling of the entire marking field, including the displayed parts to be marked, which are then laser-aligned and laser-marked with high precision without using expensive fixture devices.

Laser marking stations from FOBA use vision-based MOSAIC technology with an integrated camera to reproduce a mosaic-like tiling of the entire marking field, including the displayed parts to be marked, which are then laser-aligned and laser-marked with precision. The integrated camera makes expensive fixture devices unnecessary while still guaranteeing highly accurate laser marking results.

The mid-size M2000 laser marking station from FOBA Laser Marking + Engraving (Wood Dale, IL) is equipped with the latest MarkUS 2.12 marking software that uses patent-pending MOSAIC technology to make the marking process more efficient for significant cost savings. MOSAIC uses an integrated camera that is positioned directly above the marking field and – without perspective inaccuracies – reproduces a mosaic-like tiling of the entire marking field, including the displayed parts. The parts to be marked are then laser-aligned and laser-marked with precision. The integrated camera makes expensive fixture devices unnecessary while still guaranteeing highly accurate laser marking results.

FOBA also offers their compact M1000 marking station with a 20 Watt fiber laser and vision system IMP (Intelligent Mark Positioning), and their spacious M3000 marking station that uses a fiber laser designed especially for paint removal on plastic parts. This innovative marking system creates highly precise day-night-design symbols that are mainly used for automotive and electronic applications. The machine is also equipped with a rotary table for efficient product exchange and a backlight for enhanced part contour contrast. M3000 marking systems also use an innovative lighting system made of four components around the marking field that creates diffused lighting to prevent surface reflections. The lighting can be dimmed by pairs and is particularly shock resistant.

FOBA Remote Service (FRS) is also offered as an Industry 4.0 technical customer support service that uses a mobile modem to transfer operational data from the user on site for pro-active support by service technicians that contribute to optimize marking processes and machine functionality.
