The solid Meehanite cast iron base of the UA2090Ti 5-axis VMC from JTEKT Toyoda combines with a four-boxway design in the Y-axis to maximize vibration dampening capabilities and provide the structural rigidity needed for heavy cutting of large titanium and hard alloy parts. Its oil-recirculating heat exchange keeps spindle temperature constant for minimal thermal spindle expansion, and its unique counterbalance system on the headstock smooths operation for long-term accuracy.

Five-axis vertical machining with ability to achieve superior structural rigidity and precision of large parts can be found on the high performance UA2090Ti 5-axis VMC from JTEKT Toyoda Americas Corporation (Arlington Heights, IL). The machine’s two-axis tilting head, high-torque A and B axes with gear-driven design, and hybrid box and linear guideway construction are ideal for large part machining of titanium and hard alloy components. An oil-recirculating heat exchange keeps the spindle temperature constant to ensure minimal thermal spindle expansion, and the unique counterbalance system on the headstock makes for smoother operation and long-term accuracy. A solid Meehanite cast iron base combines with a four-boxway design in the Y-axis to maximize vibration dampening capabilities and provide the structural rigidity needed for heavy cutting.

The UA2090Ti VMC occupies 209 in x 130 in x 157 in (5,300 mm x 3,300 mm x 3,990 mm) of floor space. It has a clamping area of 84.6 in x 35.4 in (2,150 mm x 900 mm) with a maximum table load of 4,850 lb (2,200 kg) that can move 78.7 in (2,000 mm) X-axis and 35.4 in (900 mm) Y-axis. Its Z-axis headstock travel is 27.5 in (700 mm). Rapid feed rates for X-Y axes are 944 ipm (24 m/min) and Z-axis is 708 ipm (18 m/min). Its direct drive spindle outputs 811 ft-lb (1,100 Nm) torque, with a maximum cutting feed rate of 394 ipm (10 m/min). Other features include:

  • Distance from table top to spindle face in vertical position: 3.1 in to 30.7 in (80 mm to 780 mm)
  • A-axis swiveling range: ± 30 deg
  • B-axis rotating range (table): ± 30 deg
  • Spindle drive motor: 30 hp (22 kW) for 30 min / 35 hp (25 kW) cont.
  • Spindle taper: Big Plus #50
  • Tool Storage Capacity: 30 BCV50 (40 optional)
