With the SMW Autoblok APS zero point clamping system from Huron Machine Products, Inc. (Pompano Beach, FL), users can reduce set-up times by up to 90 percent. The APS zero point clamping system can be used to significantly reduce costs and set-up times, and provide more machine versatility in turning, milling, measuring, or grinding operations. Each module is offered in hardened and coated steel versions, as well as hardened stainless
steel. The APS has an extremely low installation height and offers maximum precision, repeating to less than 0.005 mm. A special coating on the clamping slides and clamping pins ensures long lasting, frictionless operation of the system and an extended service life.
The APS modules are fully sealed and protected against corrosion (corrosion-free stainless steel version is also available). The built-in air cleaning function ensures that the clamping system’s supporting surface remains clean and free of chips during changeover. Pull-in forces for each module can be increased up to 45 kN by the turbo function. The premium APS system features the ability to monitor the clamping device through air sensing.
