Filler Metals and Consumables that Improve Welding Performance

ESAB provides Dual Shield Prime Flux-cored wires for impact toughness, better performance, OK AristoRod 38 Zn for solid MIG wire for galvanized steels, and longer-lasting Cutmaster Black Series plasma consumables.

Booth B-17087: For high-tensile steels and applications that require low temperature impact toughness in the ship, offshore, oil/gas and processing industries, Dual Shield Prime low-hydrogen (H4) Flux-Cored wires from ESAB feature laser welded seams to combat moisture absorption in humid environments. Even after extended storage and exposure, they can retain their H4 designation, indicating less than 4 ml of diffusible hydrogen per 100 g of deposited weld.
Booth B-17087: OK AristoRod 38 Zn from ESAB is an AWS A5.18 ER70S-G solid MIG wire specially alloyed to minimize porosity and spatter on galvanized steels. It significantly reduces or eliminates rejects and rework on components used in transportation, white goods, agricultural tanks and troughs, HVAC systems and construction.
Booth B-17087: Cutmaster Black Series electrodes from Thermal Dynamics extend operating life by 60 percent compared to standard life Cutmaster electrodes. Featured on the SL60QD 1Torch that comes with the Cutmaster 60i handheld air plasma cutting system, the new electrode increases the unit’s rated cut and piercing capacity to 3/4 in, and it can sever metal up to 1-1/2 in.

In Booth B-17087, ESAB Welding & Cutting Products (Denton, TX) will display their new Dual Shield Prime low-hydrogen (H4) Flux-Cored wires that feature laser welded seams to combat moisture absorption in humid environments. Even after extended storage and exposure, they can retain their H4 designation, indicating less than 4 ml of diffusible hydrogen per 100 g of deposited weld. Dual Shield Prime wires are especially suited for high-tensile steels and applications that require low temperature impact toughness, notably in the ship, offshore, oil/gas and processing industries. All carry ABS approval, with additional approval by product, including BV approval, for the 81Ni1 H4 grades. Dual Shield Prime is a non-copper-coated wire. As a result, there are no copper flakes to contaminate wire feeders, liners, torches and contact tips with copper particles, improving welding performance and productivity.

Also on display will be OK AristoRod 38 Zn, an AWS A5.18 ER70S-G solid MIG wire specially alloyed to minimize porosity and spatter on galvanized steels. It significantly reduces or eliminates rejects and rework on components used in transportation, white goods, agricultural tanks and troughs, HVAC systems and construction. Welding galvanized steel releases zinc vapor that affects arc stability and contributes to excess spatter. If trapped in the weld pool, the vapor causes porosity as the weld solidifies. Through tightly controlled micro-alloying elements in its formulation, OK AristoRod 38 Zn allows the zinc vapor to escape. It addresses the root cause of porosity and spatter associated with standard ER70S-6 wires without the expense of metal cored wires.

Also on display will be the launch of the new Cutmaster® Black Series of enhanced performance plasma cutting consumables from Thermal Dynamics®, an ESAB brand. Cutmaster Black Series electrodes incorporate a new design that extends operating life by 60 percent compared to standard life Cutmaster electrodes. Featured on the SL60QD™ 1Torch® that comes with the Cutmaster 60i handheld air plasma cutting system (which also features internal enhancements), the new electrode design increases the unit’s rated cut and piercing capacity to 3/4 in, a 16.6 percent improvement. The Cutmaster 60i can sever metal up to 1-1/2 in.
