In Booth D-45056, the FAS-NER SYSTEM® from AKH Inc. (Danville, IN) eliminates the need for spot welding and riveting with a self-piercing FAS-NER. This system is a simple punch and die operation that automatically feeds, punches, inserts and locks the self-piercing FAS-NER to produce a solid joint in one high-cycle operation. The FAS-NER joins similar or dissimilar metals and thicknesses. Systems range from a single hit machine to a completely automated turnkey system, including insertion into main production lines with the assistance of machine integrators. AKH customizes systems to solve many application obstacles and, with all applications being different, they have evolved their FAS-NERs around customer needs by producing different lengths, coatings, painting and newly designed units, such as the Double Headed FAS-NER that adds an external head to existing Headed FAS-NERS, making it excellent for thin-gauge applications.
