Miller Electric Mfg. LLC (Appleton, WI) is celebrating its 90th anniversary by providing 90 scholarships for welding students in 2020. It was announced during FABTECH that Miller and the American Welding Society (AWS; Miami, FL) Foundation, will award each winning student with a $2,000 scholarship to support their welding education — a total of $180,000 in scholarships.
Students 18 years or older who are currently enrolled in a full-time welding education program are eligible for this scholarship. Applicants must have a high school diploma (or proof of graduation eligibility) and a GPA of 2.5 or higher — and must be a citizen of the United States.
“We are committed to advancing the craft of welding through training and education,” says Becky Tuchscherer, the group president of Miller. “We are proud to partner with the AWS Foundation to help these students continue their education and ultimately join the welding workforce.”
Dec. 1, 2019, through March 1, 2020, students can submit a scholarship application by visiting scholarship.aws.org. Students must register and create an academic profile, as well as provide a personal statement and career objectives. Once complete, students can apply for the Miller 90th Anniversary Scholarship: Building Our Future. The 90 award recipients will be selected by the AWS Selection Committee in June 2020, and winners will be announced no later than July 15, 2020.
“The AWS Foundation is honored to partner with Miller in celebration of their 90th anniversary and thank Miller for the positive impact these scholarships will have on the next generation of professionals in the welding industry,” says Monica Pfarr, the executive director of AWS Foundation.
