The variable-speed electric motor on the Prepzilla Millhog from Esco Tool (Holliston, MA) generates 9 rpm to 31 rpm for increased productivity and continuous use. Equipped with a 3-blade holder that can bevel any angle, face, and bore simultaneously, the portable clamping tool produces precision end preps on hard stainless steels and highly alloyed pipe.
Designed for pipe with 1.575-in inside diameter (ID) and 8.625-in OD, the Prepzilla requires just one mandrel and eight sets of clamps for the entire range of the tool. Electric motor specifications are 230 V, 2300 watt, 50 Hz to 60 Hz. Dual-opposed tapered roller bearings support the motor.
Sells from $9,995 and available to rent. Pneumatic and hydraulic motors also available.
Millhog rolling motors and tube expanders are available with a wide selection of adapters and universal pivoting extensions that let users easily reach around obstructions and access boiler tubes. Featuring a torque-control setting that stalls the tool when it reaches the desired preset tube expansion, they create a uniform and tight mechanical seal between the tube inner diameter and boiler tube sheet.
Providing precise torque control from 25 to 325 ft/lb, the products are ideal for rolling tubes with an outer diameter from 0.625 in to 4.5 in. Operating on standard shop air, the complete kits are available with 90 rpm, 190 rpm, and 280 rpm motors for straight, flare, long-reach, and beaded rolls.
Kits sell from $4,695 and can be rented.
