New 12020 Extra-Large Format Increases Laser Cutting Productivity

BySprint Fiber’s extra large format enables more sheet metal, more parts, and more variety.

The machine can be equipped with the Fiber 3000, 4000, or 6000 laser sources, depending on the user’s requirement.

Bystronic (Elgin, IL) is expanding the BySprint Fiber laser cutting system with the 12020 extra-large format. This increases laser cutting productivity and the diversity of cutting applications.

More sheet metal, more parts, more variety. Extra-large-format laser cutting systems enable users to stand out against competitors. Hence, Bystronic is expanding the BySprint Fiber laser cutting system with the 12020 format. The machine can be equipped with the Fiber 3000, 4000, or 6000 laser sources, depending on the user’s requirement.

Thanks to the new extra-large format, users can process metal sheets up to a length of 12 meters (39 ft) using the BySprint Fiber. On the one hand, this increases the machine’s productivity, because large metal sheets allow the cut parts to be nested more efficiently. On the other hand, this also significantly reduces undesirable raw material remnants. In addition, large parts as long as 39 feet can be processed without repositioning. Appropriately, the Bystronic BySoft 7 software supports the user in this process with intelligent nesting algorithms.

In addition to cutting applications with extra-large metal sheets, the 12020 format also enables smaller sheets to be processed by lining them up on the BySprint Fiber’s long cutting table. Users can simply prepare sufficient raw material, in order to subsequently allow the fiber laser cutting system to cut the sheets consecutively without interrupting the cutting process for a longer period of time.

Extended Performance Package for Economical Processing of Sheet and Plate Material

An extended performance package and new design expands the basic version of the BySprint Fiber laser cutting system.

The design of the successful fiber laser cutting system has been fundamentally revamped. BySprint Fiber is distinguished by its dynamic lines and a larger operator touch screen panel. In addition, the BySprint Fiber includes two powerful additional functions: Detection Eye and Power. For users, this means more performance at no additional cost.

The Detection Eye function supports users during cutting preparations. Using a camera system on the cutting bridge, Detection Eye recognizes the precise position of the loaded metal sheet in just a few seconds. This automatic edge detection function allows the set-up time to be reduced by up to 17 seconds – with every sheet. In addition, the high-precision measurement ensures precise cutting results right to the outermost edges of the metal sheet.

With Power Cut, Bystronic is increasing the cutting spectrum of the 6kW version of the BySprint Fiber. The function enables extremely fine cutting quality with sheet metal up to 39-feet in length and up to 1.125-inch thickness. Power Cut Fiber also increases the range of thicknesses that can be processed with applications in non-ferrous metals, aluminum, and mild steel. When equipped with Power Cut Fiber, the BySprint Fiber can cut brass up to a thickness of 5/8-inch, mild steel up to 1.0-inch, and aluminum and stainless up to 1.180-inch –– all with impressive quality.

Bystronic BySprint Fiber is available in 4020, 6520 and 12020 formats, and includes a Fiber 3000, Fiber 4000 or Fiber 6000 laser source. The higher power considerably increases the BySprint Fiber’s cutting speed in the thin to medium range sheet metal thickness. Depending on the type of material and the sheet thickness, parts output can be increased by up to 400 percent. Equipped with Bystronic’s ByTrans Extended automated material loading and unloading system, the BySprint Fiber 4020 can generate highly productive and efficient job flows. BySprint Fiber also offers significant energy savings, and low operating and maintenance costs.
