A growing number of fabricators and manufacturers are discovering laser cutting as an alternative to the two separate processes of sawing and drilling. The ByTube 130 fiber laser tube cutter from Bystronic (Elgin, IL) performs both simultaneously. Clean cutting edges also eliminate the need to deburr, and the faster throughput speeds reduces cost/part.
A number of other features enable high-mix, low-volume work.
Because 85% of the market is in the small-tube segment, the machine processes tubes with diameters between 3/8 in and 5 in and workpiece up to 28 ft long. The machine has a loading capacity of 11 lb/ft. And because 2D cutting accounts for 90% of the market, the 2D cutting head can process a large number of customer orders.
The machine’s user interface is highly intuitive, enabling even entry-level users without extensive experience to quickly set up jobs. All functions relating to cutting are displayed on one 22-in HD touch screen. Users can visualize realistic 3D part animations, create cutting plans, and monitor production processes with easy-to-operate software-driven menu selections.
Regardless of job size, users move from incoming order to delivery of finished parts in a quick and efficient workflow.
