SMART Wire Technology for AgieCharmilles CUT P Series

Thanks to radio frequency identification (RFID) technology, AgieCharmilles CUT P operators will never run out of wire because they’ll know the available length of each SMART wire spool. Spools also check selected wire technology and adjust machine performance accordingly to optimize cutting.

SMART wire uses radio frequency identification (RFID) technology to improve process continuity and product traceability for AgieCharmilles CUT P wire-cutting EDM owners. GF Machining Solutions Customer Services advises customers on which SMART wire to use for an application.

Designed specifically for AgieCharmilles CUT P series wire-cutting EDMs from GF Machining Solutions (Lincolnshire, IL), SMART wire leverages radio frequency identification (RFID) technology to provide Industry 4.0-level process control.

The moment a spool is installed, the machine recognizes the available length of wire and provides the operator with peace of mind that there will be enough to complete cutting operations without interruption. Date of manufacture, type, lot, and expiration date are transmitted via RFID to the machine report, providing traceability that’s especially important for manufacturers serving highly regulated industries such as aerospace and medical technology.

For further process optimization, SMART wire checks the wire technology selected on the machine and adjusts machine performance accordingly to optimize cutting performance.

There’s SMART wire for every need. Choose AC Cut AH 900/500/400 and AC Cut A 900/500 if surface quality’s the priority. To achieve the best productivity, there’s AC Cut VS 900+, AC Cut VS 900/500, and AC Cut D 500. When cutting speed is the top priority, AC Cut VH and AC Brass 900/500/400 serve as multipurpose solutions.
