Vapor degreasing is one of the most effective ways to clean medical devices because it requires minimal space in a cleanroom and is simple, repeatable, and easy to validate. Optimized for vapor degreasing, Tergo metal cleaning fluid (MCF) from MicroCare Corp. (New Britain, CT) enables simpler, faster, and less-expensive cleaning while meeting stringent environmental and worker safety regulations.
Tergo replaces traditional solvents such as normal propyl bromide (nPB), trichloroethylene (TCE), methylene chloride, and perchloroethylene (PERC); and complies with the European Union’s registration, evaluation, authorization, and restriction of chemicals (REACH) regulation and restriction or hazardous substances (RoHS) directive. Although it’s an azeotrope, it has a high Kauri-butanol (Kb) value. It doesn’t require chemical stabilizers or scavengers or break down in the presence of humidity or white metals.
For advanced processes like metal injection molding and additive manufacturing, Tergo MCF helps in the critical step of selectively removing the correct amount of the binder so as not to cause damage but enough for the final sintering process.
