Faster 3D Printing Software Without Manual Programming

CAD design to final modeling is expedited with ABB’s RobotStudio for low-volume, high-mixing printing. Users program robots to complete production prototypes in 30 minutes.

A 3D printing feature ABB has added to its RobotStudio simulation and offline programming software enables operators to program ABB robots for additive manufacturing in 30 minutes.

ABB (Auburn Hills, MI) adds 3D printing capabilities to its RobotStudio simulation and offline programming software, enabling users to program ABB robots for additive manufacturing in 30 minutes.

Part of RobotStudio’s PowerPac portfolio, the 3D printing feature eliminates manual programming to allow faster prototype production. The 3D Printing PowerPac supports a variety of processes, such as welding and printing with granules or concrete and is ideal for low-volume, high-mix printing.

Unlike traditional 3D printing methods that involve plotting millions of points and trajectories, the 3D Printing PowerPac “translates” any standard slicer software design into ABB’s simulation environment and robot code. This means an operator can progress from the CAD design stage to final product modeling in half an hour.
