Metrology Equipment Maker Upgrades Calibrator, Introduces Higher-Resolution Digital Indicators
Mahr Inc.’s Precimar ICM 100 IP can be retrofit to automatically calibrate dial and digital indicators, test indicators, and dial comparators. Six higher-resolution options expand potential applications for MarCator 1086R-HR and 1087R-HR digital indicators.

A hardware and software add-on package enables the Precimar ICM 100 calibrator made by Mahr Inc. (Providence, RI) to be retrofit to automatically inspect and calibrate test dial and digital indicators, test indicators, and dial comparators. The autorecognition vision system is also available new as the Precimar ICM 100 IP.
A USB 3.0 camera reads and sends test values to preloaded software that compares the values with an internal reference scale and calibrates the product under test. The preloaded gage calibration software also makes it possible to create and store test certificates.
The upgraded calibrator speeds and facilitates monitoring of the indicators being tested. The vision system’s autorecognition records more test items and data points more quickly than conventional manual methods. The software is preloaded with standard U.S. ASME/ANSI indicator calibration routines, so the operator can move on to other tasks after choosing indicator type and standard.
Mahr Inc.’s MarCator 1086R with large display and MarCator 1087 R-HR analog/digital display and dynamics offer six resolutions ranging from 0.00001 in to 0.0005 in (0.0001 mm to 0.01 mm). Performance of the digital indicators’ short-range (0.5-in/12.5-mm) version is better than 20u” (0.5 um) and within 70u” (1.8um); long-range (1-in/25-mm) version performance is 0.0001 in (2.2 um).
To switch resolution, enter the main menu, scroll over to “resolution display,” and use the up arrow option to choose the appropriate resolution to accommodate varying gaging applications.
MarConnect controlled by MarCom software provides three output choices (USB/RS0-232 or digimatic) depending on data cable. (Transmission is also possible via integrated wireless system.) Other standard features include rotating display, a reference system that remembers the zero location for fast turn-on and use, three-year battery life, and IP42 protection. Users can take a measurement and send data into Microsoft Excel spreadsheet or, via a keyboard code, any Windows program.
