PurgElite from Huntingdon Fusion Techniques HFT tube and pipe purging systems help welders quickly achieve a clean, oxide-free, zero-color weld. Manufactured for diameters from 1 in to 24 in (25 mm to 600 mm), their integral gas feed device eliminates complicated valving for the operator to adjust and set.

When welding tubes and pipes made of alloys such as stainless, duplex, and chrome, eliminating the oxygen internally with an inert gas helps prevent oxidation and discoloration and ensure a good internal weld profile. Weld purging long pipelines can be costly and time-consuming, so restricting weld purge volumes can save time and inert gas expenses.

PurgElite from Huntingdon Fusion Techniques HFT (West Melbourne, FL) is a  range of low-cost tube and pipe purging systems to achieve a clean, oxide-free, zero-color weld in minutes. Manufactured for diameters from 1 in to 24 in (25 mm to 600 mm), PurgElite is made of low-outgassing-rate materials that enable them  to produce high-quality welds.

PurgElite creates a seal on either side of the weld. The systems are inserted in the pipe and positioned with the help of the luminous RootGlo indicator. When the gas flow starts, the dams inflate to seal inside the pipe, and argon then automatically purges the interspace. The PurgElite comes with a monitor connection so the welder can track oxygen content of the purge volume throughout the entire process. The PurgElite IntaCal purge gas feed device means there’s no complicated valving for the operator to adjust and set.

The PurgeGate accessory is a one-way valve that regulates gas flow and pressure during purging to prevent dams from overinflating and bursting. Heat-resistant covers with a rating up to a temperature of 300º C are also available to protect the inflatable dams. These are attached with ties sewn into the covers.
