Free DRO Upgrade Responds to Industry Demands
The latest software for Heidenhain’s Acu-Rite family of digital readouts(DROs) features at least three enhancements designed to increase productivity and efficiency. One adds Axes Q on the axes’ names list for customers who use their DROs on optical comparators.

The free, upgraded “v1.4.0” software version is available for users of all Heidenhain Acu-Rite 100, 200, and 300 digital readout (DRO) models.
Heidenhain (Schaumburg, IL) offers a free downloadable software upgrade for Acu-Rite digital readout (DRO) models 100, 200, and 300. Version “v1.4.0” is available online here with enhancements including:
- Axes Q. The letter Q was added to the axes’ names list for customers who use their DROs on optical comparators. Available in all three models.
- Zoom Timeout time delay was added to the Dynamic Zoom & Highlight feature so users can set how long a zoom or character color change stays active after an axis stops moving. If the user starts moving another axis before the delay time is reached, the delay is ignored in about half a second. Available in DRO 200/300.
- With the “Send Position” Soft Key, users who want to record Screen Displayed can send the data via USB cable to a computer program of their choice. The free computer program that Heidenhain offers is the QC Wedge Software program on the Heidenhain.com “Software” tab here (click on Evaluation Electronics/Quadra-Chek Wedge). Available in DRO 200/300.
