In its mission to standardize solutions for threading hardened steel and cast iron, material Emuge Corp. (West Boylston, MA) offers the A-H family of HSS-E and HSSE-PM taps for tapping extremely abrasive materials and materials common in the heavy equipment and agricultural vehicle markets.
HSS-E A-H taps penetrate materials up to 48 RC hardness. HSSE-PM A-HCUT taps penetrate materials between 44 and 55 RC hardness and feature a hard, heat- resistant, powdered-metal substrate for enhanced cutting performance and longer tool life. Both are available with a titanium carbonitride (TiCN) coating, to enhance surface hardness and increase abrasion-resistance, or nitride (NT) surface treatment. A coolant-fed version with axial coolant holes facilitates chip evacuation.
Suitable for short chipping hardened steel and cast iron, the taps are offered in a Rekord A-style for thru-hole and blind-hole applications. UNC/UNF thread sizes along with metric and metric fine sizes are available.
