The Pyramid workholding platform Kurt Manufacturing Co. (Minneapolis, MN) introduced in 2019 is so popular the company developed a pre-engineered platform that’s standard for 12 5-axis vise models, saving time by enabling three components to be clamped in one fixture in a single setup. Each bundle comes with three mounted vises and optional base plate for final mounting and handles parts from 2 inches to 7 inches.
Made from 7075 anodized aluminum and featuring a 12-inch-diameter base that fits a variety of 5-axis CNC machines, the Pyramid is pre-drilled for easy mounting to most machine tables, pallets, or subplates. Its 45-degree mounting surface is positioned so each vise provides maximum access to all machined surfaces and allows for enhanced spindle and cutting tool clearance.
Workholding bundles are available for HP420, HP420C, HP420D, HP440, HP440C, HP440D, HP460, HP460C, HP460D, SCMX250, SCMX425, and DTR20 vises. Users can select from self-centering and dovetail designs including soft jaws for machining odd-shaped profiles into the jaws, hard jaws, and a riser base model for even more part clearance.
The company can provide additional setup options such as quick-change pallet systems, hydraulic or pneumatic actuation, robotic machine tending for automation, in-process gaging, and inspection.
