Yaskawa Motoman’s Smart Pendant: 10-inch touchscreen teach pendant offers a fast, simple learning curve, making the product ideal for novice robot programmers. Available for use with select Yaskawa Motoman YRC-controlled robots.

Available for use with select Yaskawa Motoman YRC-controlled robots, the Smart Pendant from the Motoman Robotics Division of Yaskawa America Inc. (Dayton, OH) radically changes how the robot is programmed, providing simplified programming and fast implementation. Its easy-to-understand, tablet-based interface offers a simple learning curve compared to the standard pendant and is ideal for novice robot programmers.

Patented, built-in Smart Frame technology determines the user’s orientation relative to the robot. This eliminates the use of conventional coordinate (X,Y,Z) frames and utilizes human coordinate references for easy command of robot movement.

Automatic programming feedback reduces errors, and its quick error recovery reduces costly downtime. The interface displays relevant information during playback, allowing users to easily monitor variables, positions, and input/output (I/O) during runtime.

Other features also simplify programming efforts, including:

  • Descriptive commands that alleviate the need to memorize abbreviations
  • A favorites bar to capture commonly used commands for easy access
  • Touch-to-edit functionality for job editing
  • Command Builder that guides the user to insert commands
  • Detailed, built-in help and how-to instructions eliminate the need for hard copy manuals.

Smart Pendant includes Yaskawa Soft Pendant software, a digital version of the YRC1000 pendant that can be run on a Windows operating system.
