A Bevy of Chuck Accessories To Shorten Machining Cycle Times

Dillon Manufacturing’s chuck jaws provide multiple radiuses for both inside and outside clamping, making them ideal for any size run. Four jaw and/or accessory options lower tooling costs by increasing productivity and extending service life.

Dillon Manufacturing’s dual-purpose collet pad jaws grip a wider range of geometries more securely for excellent results when precision boring, machining, tapping, drilling, and finishing.
Available for most chuck brands, Dillon Manufacturing’s claw jaws provide maximum grip for turning applications. Optional rest buttons allow setting up different clamping depths.
Black oxide-coated for corrosion resistance, Dillon Manufacturing’s hard jaws feature diamond-shaped serrations increase pulldown, reducing slippage and pushback while using a bar feeder or when working with cast parts, scaly parts, or parts with imperfections.
Easy-locating features on Dillon Manufacturing’s soft jaws reduce setup time and ensure consistent part clamping. The blanks are ideal for second operation finishing work such as shafts, gear blanks, wheel hubs, and bearings.

Collet pad jaw systems from Dillon Manufacturing Inc. (Springfield, OH) maximize the user’s chuck investment by performing both chuck and collet pad projects.

Changing over to collet pad jaws is done in minutes by changing a jaw instead of an entire chuck. The systems allow for more varied geometries to be securely gripped. Systems can convert thru-hole chucks to hold small bar and tube stock as well as full contact of gripping surfaces to provide a more stable grip and allow heavier cuts.

The collet pads and jaws adapt to many chuck styles for use in precision boring, high-speed machining, tapping, drilling, and finishing applications. They’re especially well-suited for small-diameter machining of stems, spools, crimp assemblies, manifolds for high-pressure air systems, medical parts, miscellaneous fittings, mechanical and transmission components, and specialty valves.

Metal-to-metal fits ensure accuracy; round, hex, and square collet pad shapes with smooth and serrated gripping surfaces. The line includes collet pad top jaws and W&S solid emergency collet pads as well as S-type, Gisholt, Jones & Lamson, and Martin collet pad types.

Available for most chuck brands, the clamping contour of Dillon’s claw jaws bites into the workpiece, providing increased holding power in turning applications. The jaw’s weight, center of gravity, and cutting forces combine to minimize force loss. Manufactured from 8620 steel for durability, an extensive product range is ideal for ID, OD, and bar-clamping applications. Optional rest buttons allow setting up different clamping depths.

The diamond-shaped serrations on Dillon’s hard jaws increase pulldown, reducing slippage and pushback while using a bar feeder or when working with cast parts, scaly parts, or parts with imperfections. Manufactured of 8620 steel and case-hardened with precision-ground locating surfaces and available in one- or two-step sets, the jaws are reversible for OD or ID chucking. Only one set is necessary to cover a wide clamping range. Mounting configurations include serrated, T&G, Acme, and square-serrated key types to fit all chuck brands.

Soft jaw blanks have an easy-locating feature that reduces setup times, aids concentric performance, provides better chuck balance, and ensures longer jaw life due to the increased accuracies. A milled surface on the jaw end, opposite to the clamping surface, serves as a location point for positioning the counter-bored holes and the jaws’ serrations, producing exact dimensional matching of jaw sets. Available in 1018 steel and 6061 aluminum as well as 4140, 8620, and A2, brass, delrin, or stainless steel to suit virtually any CNC or manual chuck project involving turned or bored parts, the blanks are ideal for second operation finishing work such as shafts, gear blanks, wheel hubs, and bearings.
