Open Mind Technologies’ (Needham, MA) hyperCAD-S and hyperMILL have been added to Tech Soft 3D’s (Bend, OR) Hoops Exchange, which converts 3D data to open-file product representation compact (PRC) data format that’s used for 3D in Adobe PDF. The integration ensures CAD and product and manufacturing information (PMI) data transfers seamlessly between applications.
Hoops Exchange is a set of software libraries optimized to read various kinds of 3D data, especially those coming from computer-aided design (CAD) systems. Most data types stored by CAD systems are supported:
- Assemblies and parts
- Trees of 3D entities (coordinate systems, wireframes, surfaces, and solids)
- Exact geometry representation for curves and surfaces
- Topological structures for surface and solid models
- Tessellated (triangulated) representation
- Markup data including PMI
- Metadata such as name, color, layer and other non-geometric data.
Tech Soft 3D’s toolkit products power nearly 500 unique applications running on hundreds of millions of computers worldwide.
hyperMILL is a modular but complete CAM solution for 2.5D, 3D, 5-axis, HSC/HPC, and mill-turning processes that includes special applications and automation solutions. The software provides geometry analysis and tool path calculations. There are specialized routines designed for programming and machining components on 5-axis milling or mill-turn machines. Robust CNC postprocessors ensure strong communication to machine tool controllers.
“Digital transformation is happening at lightning speed within the manufacturing industry, and we’re committed to helping our partners keep pace,” says Tech Soft 3D Product Manager Lionel Vieilly. “Fast and secure access to data, being able to use data without the need for an additional translator, and excellent performance with low memory usage are paramount to quickly building robust, sophisticated 3D applications.”
