Xiris Develops New Thermal Camera System for Additive Manufacturing
Xiris Automation Inc. (Burlington, ON, Canada) has announced the development of the XIR-1800 thermal camera system for additive manufacturing and critical metal joining processes.

Capturing real-time, thermally calibrated temperature measurements from about 350 to 1,800°C, the XIR-1800 will help improve in-process control and quality assurance for fabricators. Often, a key challenge in metal additive and joining processes is to monitor the size and cooling rates of the melt pool of a weld bead. With Xiris’ new camera, manufacturers will be able to capture images and clearly see the melt pool even in harsh environments of smoke, fumes, and spatter.
The XIR-1800 can be integrated into existing processes and connects with Xiris’ WeldStudio™ software suite so that multiple Xiris weld cameras and peripherals, such as weld microphones, can be used together for data synchronization, capture, and analysis in one system.
