3-Dimensional Services Group Turns 30

Rochester Hills, MI— The 3-Dimensional Services Group, (www.3dimensional.com) a leading production-intent prototype and low-volume production firm will celebrate its 30th Anniversary this year. The companies include 3-Dimensional Services, Urgent Design & Manufacturing, Urgent Plastic Services and Michigan Integrated Technologies.

The year also marks the company casting a larger presence with the addition of two new facilities in Lapeer, MI. and one in Rochester Hills, MI. Together the three campuses (seven facilities) of the company now boast nearly 500,000 sq.ft. of manufacturing space and allows for greater flexibility of its fabricating and machining footprint. The additional facilities will not only increase the output capacity of the company, but combined with the continued investment in new equipment, grow the range of services offered.

The company’s arsenal of high-tech manufacturing equipment now features; new ultra-fast machining centers that provide spindle speeds up to 24,000 RPM, new fiber lasers systems that join several other company-wide laser systems including both 3-and 5-axis with up to 12 kW of power; new automation cells that have a 40-pallet changing capacity with sheet size up to 160″ x 78;” and new stamping presses to join the over 100 presses already in the company’s facilities. Further, the company boasts an onsite collaborative design studio to work directly with its customer base.

3-Dimensional Services, the original company within the Group, started in 1992 with five employees and now with over 600 throughout the group is a full service engineering, design and accelerated manufacturing firm that specializes in “on-demand” development manufacturing, production-intent prototype parts and lower-volume production runs for industries such as military, automotive, furniture, medical, communication, biomedical research, energy, household appliances, packaging and toys.

The company’s capabilities include, bridge tooling, prototyping, fabricating, laser processing, CNC machining, plastic injection molding, assembly, patterns and models.

The company thrives on investing in the latest technologies to provide leading edge services for its customers. It was a pioneer in the use of industrial laser processing, was one of the first prototype shops in the U.S. to develop its own laser welding assembly machine, purchase a massive 7000-ton press and invest in numerous and the latest in high-speed machining centers.
